Family Files Suit Over Red Line Shooting

The family of  man shot on the Red Line has filed a civil suit for wrongful death against the Chicago police. George Lash, 19, was shot when he pointed his gun at officers. His family claims he was handcuffed when he was shot. (Hmm. . . . really??) Police had been called to the scene by the train operator who reported Lash was brandishing a gun.  Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis stated: "Unfortunately, the events led to a life being lost, but when you're trying to murder police officers, that's what's going to happen and I'm really glad our officers are safe."

Andrew M. Hale & Associates Rallies Firms Together To Raise The Officer Michael Bailey Reward Over $100,000

In a letter sent today to Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis, Andrew M. Hale & Associates announced it had raised over $23,000 to add to the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people who killed Officer Michael Bailey.

As stated in the letter:

We are all saddened by the recent shooting death of Officer Michael Bailey. It is unfortunate that it takes an incident like this to remind us of the sacrifice officers make every day to keep us safe. We wanted to extend our condolences to Officer Bailey’s family and to the entire Chicago Police Department.

For the last few days we have been discussing how we can help the effort to catch the killers. We obviously cannot go out to canvas neighborhoods or talk to potential witnesses, however we could help with money. We are excited to join the other organizations that have pledged money as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people that are responsible for Officer Bailey’s tragic death.

To see the firms participating in the latest reward - here is the letter.

We hope they catch these killers and bring them to justice. Officer Bailey's family deserves it. CPD deserves it. We all deserve it!

Derrion Albert Beating - Jesse Jackson Blaming Police Too!

In an interview on Chicago Tonight Jesse Jackson blamed the police in the beating death of Derrion Albert. Jackson said the police were not doing their job well. Really? It was CPD's fault? During part of the interview, the host shows a clip of Jody Weis' press conference where Weis confirmed that the FIRST call to police came from people at the Agape Community Center AFTER Derrion had been taken inside after being beaten. As we mentioned in a prior post, people videotaped the beating with their cell phones - as interested spectators - but apparently made no effort to call 911 or CPD. And it's CPD's fault? When asked about this "code of silence," Jackson blamed that on CPD too! Check out the video and see for yourself.
